Nelson Ferreira Coelho (born May 26, 1982 ) is a former Portuguese football player .
Career
Nelson Ferreira played in the youth team of FC Interlaken from 1992 . In 2001 the trained floor layer moved to FC Thun , after spending a year in the youth department there in the 1998/99 season, and signed his first professional contract there. At that time he was playing with tuna in the National League B . A year later he rose to the highest league with the Thuners, the National League A , and became a regular in midfield of FC Thun.
In the 2005/06 season he achieved the greatest successes with the team, he scored six goals in 36 Super League games and qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League after victories in the qualifying games against Dynamo Kiev and Malmö FF . There, the opponents Arsenal London , Ajax Amsterdam and Sparta Prague were drawn to the Thuners . In the first Champions League game of FC Thun on September 14, 2005 against Arsenal , he scored a remarkable goal. Eventually third place in the group was achieved and Thun then took part in the UEFA Cup and lost in the next round to Hamburger SV .
After the 2007/08 season he was relegated with the club from the top division and left the club in July 2008. He signed a three-year contract with FC Luzern , which was extended by one year in 2011. In July 2012 he returned to Thun, where he signed a four-year contract. On May 21, 2019, he announced his resignation at the end of the 2018/19 season.
