The Nemira Mountains ( Romanian Munții Nemira , Hungarian Nemere Hegység ) is a medium mountain range in Romania with a height of 1649 m .

The mountain range lies on the border between the Covasna and Bacău districts , in the north the Ghimeș pass and the Uz valley with the Poiana Uzului reservoir, the Trotuș valley in the east, the Oituz pass in the south and the Oitiz valley . The length of the north-south main ridge of the mountains is 30 kilometers. The area is about 700 km². Its highest point is the Nemira Mare (1649 m). On the northern half it exceeds the height of 1.6 kilometers in four more points.
history
Because of its strategic importance, the mountains were hotly contested in the First World War between German and Austrian units on the one hand and Romanian and Russian units on the other.
