Neomariania rebeli is a butterfly from the family of Stathmopodidae .
features
The moths reach a wingspan of 8 to 14 millimeters. The head is pale ocher and speckled brown. The antennae have a brownish gray sheen and are indistinctly ringed at the base. They are as long as the fore wings. Thorax and tegulae are pale ocher and mixed brown. The front wings are pale ocher and, especially at the base of the Costa Lader, are mottled gray-brown. At the anal corner there is a gray-brown, indistinct bandage that tapers in the direction of the Costa loader. A similar bandage runs between the anal angle and the apex . There is an indistinct spot in the apical area. The fringed scales are ocher in color. The hind wings are gray in the males and dark gray in the females. The abdomen shines gray, the anus tuft is dorsally gray and ventrally white. The density of the dark brown scales on the forewings is variable.
In the males, the costal edge of the valves is semicircular humpbacked. The inside of the saccule with the vertical bulge is strongly convex. The aedeagus tapers slightly distally .
In females, the antevaginal lamellae are angled distally. The ductus bursae is almost twice as long as the corpus bursae . The signa are more than half as long as the corpus bursae.
Similar species
Neomariania partinicensis is similar to Neomariania rebeli , but differs in its more ocher-gray coloration and in the antennae, which are longer than the fore wings.
distribution
Neomariania rebeli occurs in Portugal (including Madeira ) and the Canary Islands .
biology
The biology of the species is unknown. Butterflies were collected from mid-July to mid-October.
