Nepalese in Germany

Nepalese in Germany are immigrants, refugees and expatriates from Nepal as well as Germans of Nepalese origin. Most of them live in the city of Munich and are considered to be relatively well integrated. A total of over 4,000 Nepalese live in Germany. Smaller minorities also live in the cities of Göttingen , Berlin and Hamburg . Most of them speak German alongside their Nepalese language and are mostly followers of Hinduism and Buddhism .

Migration history

Hundreds of Nepalese immigrated to Germany from Nepal to find political asylum , either fleeing the Maoists or the police. A smaller group of Nepalese entrepreneurs and international students also immigrated to Germany for business and higher education.

There are several 200 Nepalese living in and around Munich; there is also a small but significant community of students who study medicine, languages ​​and other subjects and therefore remain in Germany as Nepalese. There is also a Nepalese restaurant in Munich and a Nepalese school.

Munich is also home to a Nepalese temple garden known as Pagoda Nepal . The center of the garden is a hand-carved pagoda . As in Nepal, the nine meter high pagoda stands on a plateau. The temple figurines that flank the staircase are, like the temple bell, placed in the pagoda.

Organizations

Nepali Samaj, Germany is a Nepalese community organization in the Federal Republic of Germany . The organization was founded in April 2003 by the group of young Nepalese in Germany with the Friends of Nepalese in Germany.

Other organizations are the Non Resident Nepali Association-Germany (NRN-NCC-Germany) and the large SONOG (Students of Nepalese Origin in Germany)
