Zascha Moktan (* 1981 in New Delhi , India ) is a singer, pianist and guitarist of German-Nepalese descent.
biography
Moktan came to Germany when she was six , her parents come from Nepal and Germany. She moved from India via London , where she made her first musical appearances in a gospel choir, to Frankfurt am Main , and later to Berlin . She started playing the piano at the age of eight, later she joined the school choir and completed a classical music education. In the mid-1990s she and a few friends founded a band in Frankfurt am Main, which initially devoted itself to punk and rock music. In 2000 she took part in a song contest in which she won the title "Best German Hessian Newcomer Band" . During another competition she was discovered by Nigel Kennedy , who invited her to take part in some of his performances.

In November 2003 Moktan appeared as a supporting act for Craig David on his tour of Germany. In 2005 she toured the USA with Alicia Keys and John Legend . To do this, she interrupted the hairdressing training she had just started in Hamburg . Back home, she signed her first record deal with the Universal Music Group in 2006 . Until then, she was told that her music sounded too American for the German market. After her success in the USA, Moktan released her debut single “Ouch! - Remember Me “ in Germany. In September 2007 Moktan was voted “Bayern 3 Newcomer of the Month” . She also performed at the New Pop Festival .
As a second single she released "Like U Do" on March 14, 2008. She presented this song in January 2008 on the TV show "Mein 2008" by Sabine Christiansen on ARD . Her debut album "The Bottom Line" was also released on March 14, 2008.
On June 10, 2011 her second album "State Of Mind" was released .
Musically she moves in the genres of soul , blues , country and gospel .
