Nepenthes bongso is a species of pitcher plants ( Nepenthes ). This carnivorous plant isnativeto the island of Sumatra .

description

Like most Nepenthes, Nepenthes bongsa is a perennial , climbing subshrub . The leaf base (often interpreted as a leaf blade in pitcher plants ) is lanceolate and leathery. The (medium-sized) pitchers are up to 11 cm long, with two lashed wing strips. The close-up lamellae of the jug opening are bitter orange, the jugs and the lid itself are green to kiwi-colored.

distribution and habitat

Nepenthes bongso is native to the island of Sumatra, part of Indonesia . It grows there as an endemic in the central part of the south-western highlands at altitudes between 1000 and 2700 meters.

Systematics

It is assigned to the so-called highland Nepenthes . The first description of Nepenthes bongso was in 1839 by Pieter Willem Korthals in his work Over het geslacht Nepenthes .
