The Neptun 371 cargo ship series , also known as the Sol Michel series, is a very variable type of general cargo from the Rostock shipyard "Neptun".

history

The ships were built on the basis of the technically largely identical type Neptun 381 . The series was manufactured in six units from 1972 to 1975, three of which were handed over to Norwegian and three to Swedish shipping companies. The ships, which can be designed as either full-deck or free-deck, are primarily intended for the combined transport of general cargo, containers, heavy cargo, wood, bulk cargo, but also refrigerated cargo and sweet oil .

The first ship and namesake of the series was hull number 371, launched on May 23, 1972 as Sol Michel , but handed over to the Johannes Solstad shipping company as Lloyd Copenhague on November 29, 1972. Lloyd Copenhague , based in Skudeneshavn , was renamed several times, most recently in 1997 in SREE JI I and already canceled from December 3rd of the same year in Alang . The sixth and last ship in the series was hull number 376, delivered on September 11, 1975 as Balticland , which was canceled after several renaming from January 22, 2000 as Rose Stone in Alang, India . The other four ships of the series are still in the register despite the 35 years of service.

technology

The ships were propelled by a two-stroke diesel engine of the type K9Z 60/105 E manufactured under MAN license from the manufacturer VEB Maschinenbau Halberstadt, which acts directly on a four-blade fixed propeller with a diameter of 4.5 m. The output was 6620 kW at a maximum of 165 min −1 . The largely automated machine system is set up for 16-hour watch-free operation.

The hulls with bulbous bow are joined together in a sectional construction. The living and working area of the aft deck superstructure, equipped with individual chambers, is air-conditioned.

The three holds with a volume of 16,455 m 3 grain space and 15,043 m 3 bale space have an intermediate deck with hydraulically operated smooth folding hatch covers and large deck hatch openings that are closed with chain-operated reinforced hatch covers. In addition, 163 m 3 of refrigerated cargo and 351 m 3 of sweet oil as well as 288 containers or 3304 standard wood can be transported. The cargo gear consists of five tons 8/16/30 swinging derricks .
