Life

Nestor Souto de Oliveira was married to Josefa Serrano Baldino and had several children with her. He was an army general and was accepted as a grand official in the Order of Military Merit. From March 31, 1951 to November 25, 1952, he was in command of the newly founded Military Academy of the Black Eagles and from December 11, 1958 to July 8, 1959, the first military district. Until 1960 Nestor Souto de Oliveira headed the personnel department of the Ministry of War.

When Jânio Quadros resigned on August 25, 1961, Vice President João Goulart was on a diplomatic mission in Beijing . Brazil had diplomatic relations with Taiwan until August 15, 1974 . Nestor Souto de Oliveira was at that time commander in chief of the armed forces. In order to make the return of João Goulart more difficult and to impose the presidency of the chairman of the parliament Pascoal Ranieri Mazzilli , Nestor Souto de Oliveira participated in the kidnapping of Henrique Teixeira Lott , who was notoriously constitutional. João Goulart sent him on February 26, 1963 as an ambassador to Damascus , from where Nestor Souto de Oliveira returned to the Operação Brother Sam on August 11, 1964.
