history
The NAZ first appeared on November 2, 1926. Editor-in-chief until 1932 was the later founding member of the DKP Willi Bohn . The newspaper was banned several times, especially towards the end of the Weimar Republic. In its edition of January 31, 1933, the NAZ called for a “mass struggle against the Hitler government” and called Hitler a “people's deceiver”. As a result, the newspaper was banned from publication for five days from February 11 to 16, 1933. A publication ban for three weeks followed on February 25, but this was no longer overridden: The last - legal - edition of the NAZ of February 28, 1933, the day of the Reichstag fire , contained only the prohibition order of the Upper President . The rotary press, which had just been put into operation in the summer of 1932, had to be handed over to the Lower Saxony daily newspaper , and in May 1933 the Progress printing press at Klagesmarkt 21 had to be closed.
