New Berlin music newspaper
The Neue Berliner Musikzeitung ( NBMz for short ) was a musical magazine that was published by Bote & Bock in the years 1847–1896 . It was the continuation of the Berlin musical newspaper , which had been published by Karl Gaillard from 1844 to 1847 and was considered the most important music magazine in Berlin.
The Neue Berliner Musikzeitung reported extensively on musical life in Berlin, but also from other cities in Germany and Europe, and was, alongside the Allgemeine Musikalische Zeitung and the Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, the most influential trade journal in German countries. It was also the publication organ of the Berliner Tonkünstler-Verein (BTV).
The NBMz was founded by Gustav Bock , a board member of the publishing house at the time. A former editor-in-chief was Hermann Wolff (1845–1902), who founded a concert agency in 1880. He was Ferruccio Busoni's agent and was also responsible for founding the Philharmonic Society.
