The city quarter of NeuerMarkt is a mixed-use property in the city center of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz and includes a shopping center, cinema, hotel, fitness studio, BayernLab, office, practice and service areas as well as a parking garage.
General
The city quarter is located at the lower gate north of the old town at the intersection of Dammstraße, Nürnberger Straße and Kurt-Romstöck-Ring and thus forms a continuation of the upper and lower market as the main shopping streets.
history
The site previously housed the municipal slaughterhouse and a petrol station, and later also a discount store and a parking garage. In connection with the State Horticultural Show in Neumarkt in 1998 , a redesign of the area was first considered. However, plans to build a shopping center that were drawn up at that time were stopped by a referendum. Subsequently, the area was not used for several years. In 2009 the Max Bögl Group acquired the approximately 28,000 m² area and began project development.
Despite controversial planning in public, 88.94% of the citizens voted for the project in a referendum. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on March 7, 2014, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated on February 27, 2015 and the opening was on September 17, 2015, the hotel opened on January 24, 2016.
Location and accessibility
The “NeuerMarkt” district is located at the Unteres Tor intersection, one of the city's transport hubs, and also in the immediate vicinity of the old town. The old town and "NeuerMarkt" are connected by an underground pedestrian passage. The parking garage is also integrated into the local parking guidance system. The "Neuer Markt" and "Nürnberger Straße" stops are located in the city quarter and are served by the Neumarkt city bus .

shopping mall
The centerpiece of the city quarter is the shopping center with 14,000 m² of retail space. There are 54 units on two levels, including shops, restaurants and service areas.
movie theater
The Cineplex Neumarkt with 7 screens and 846 seats is integrated into the property .
hotel
The 4-star Hotel Park Inn by Radisson has 105 rooms of different categories and meeting and event rooms for up to 300 people.
Gym
In September 2017 a fitness studio of the chain "Jumpers" opened.
BayernLab
In March 2019, the BayernLab Neumarkt idOPf. opened.
