The Fryma e Re Demokratike ( Albanian for "New Democratic Wind" or "New Democratic Spirit"; acronym: FRD ) is a party in Albania . It was founded on April 30, 2012 and is in the center- right on the political spectrum . The party leader has been Bamir Topi , the former president of Albania , since it was founded . Officially, the FRD wants to address, among other things, those voters who are disappointed by the policies of the right-wing Democratic Party of Albania .

In 2007 Bamir Topi was elected head of state of Albania. His term of office only lasted one legislative period. In 2012 he was not re-elected (see presidential election in Albania 2012 ) . His successor was Bujar Nishani . The reasons for Topis being voted out of office lay in the political differences between him and the Albanian Prime Minister at the time, Sali Berisha , who was also chairman of the Democratic Party at the time. Even at the beginning of his term in office, Topi appeared in public as an open critic of Berisha's politics. Topi made the Prime Minister responsible for the deaths in the protests in January 2011 , among other things . Other accusations were made against each other and the two politicians distanced themselves more and more; For example, they no longer appeared together in public on official occasions and ceremonies.
Even before Topis was voted out of office in June 2012, like-minded party colleagues founded the New Democratic Wind on April 30th . Topi immediately joined the party in June and the party structure was presented on November 14, 2012. Bamir Topi are party chairman, Gazmend Oketa general secretary, Daut Gumeni , Aleksander Biberaj and Valbona Duri are deputy chairmen. At the same time, the respective subsidiary organizations for young people (Grupimi Rinor) and women (Forumi i Gruas) were founded.
During a TV interview with Top Story on the private broadcaster Top Channel on November 15, 2012, party leader Topi summarized his opinion on current Albanian politics and the government under Prime Minister Berisha as follows:
“Politika është bërë qesharake. Ka mungesë transparence, propagandë fyese dhe halucinacione për ekonominë kombëtare. "
“Politics have become ridiculous. There is a lack of transparency, offensive propaganda and hallucinations about economics. "
