Neuselhalden is a district of Steinheim am Albuch on the Swabian Alb in the Heidenheim district in Baden-Württemberg . It is located at an altitude of around 650 meters above sea level, around three kilometers west-southwest of the main town of Steinheim.
The name Neuselhalden comes from the word Nesselheide , which is made up of the words Nessel and Heide . It was originally a monastery founded during the Thirty Years War . Until a few decades ago the village was inhabited exclusively by farmers.
Today there is only one large farm in Neuselhalden with around 400 head of cattle. This means that livestock farming exceeds the population density in Neuselhalden by more than ten times.
The village consists of eight houses and a large number of stables and barns .
