history

According to the historical place name book of Bavaria, the place was first mentioned in 1362. In a document it says: "Otto de Aufsez had deserviet pro burghuta unam curiam Newsetz quam burghutam in Weischenvelt." In 1520/25 the place was called "Newßes", since 1692 Neusig.

House number 6 is one of the oldest in the area. This house and the other courtyard buildings are said to have been built around the 16th century. The founders were the count and knight von Burgstuhl and Count Hollmann, who had his property on the Holleberg (Hollmannsberg). However, the actual owner of the farm was the Count von Burgstuhl. It was the seat of the bailiff who lived there in his time.

Robber barons invaded the area at the end of the 17th century. Count von Burgstuhl was defeated and taken prisoner. The war people looted and pillaged the area. As a result of the looting, the governor of Count von Burgstuhl had to leave his seat and flee. The big watchtower behind today's oven was demolished and robbed. For many years, remains could still be seen. The village was in ruins and completely deserted.

At the beginning of the 18th century, Anabaptists immigrated and settled. After several years a small village had emerged again.
