Never is a song composed by Lionel Newman for voice and piano in 1951 . The text is from Eliot Daniel . It begins with the line My love is deep as the sea… (German: My love is deep as the sea… ) In the version sung by Dennis Day it was used as a film song for the music film Golden Girl .

It was published in 1951 in Sydney by J. Albert & Son and in New York by Robbins Music Corporation. It was assigned to popular music in the years 1951–1960. It was classified as one of the "highlights in the 20th Century Fox film Golden Girl ".

At the Academy Awards in 1952 , the song was nominated for an Oscar in the "Best Song" category, but had to admit defeat to the song In the Cool, Cool, Cool of the Evening from the comedy Wedding Parade by Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer .

A song with the same title but not identical to this song was written by Broadway songwriters Jerry Bock and George Weiss in the mid-1950s ; It was recorded for the first time by Sarah Vaughan in 1955.
