Nevermen is a US-based crossover - supergroup , founded of 2008.

history

Adam "Doseone" Drucker , Mike Patton ( Faith No More ) and Tunde Adebimpe ( TV on the Radio ) started the project in 2008 . Drucker knew Patton before and in 2006 made a guest contribution to the band's self-titled debut album Peeping Tom , a side project of Patton. In 2007 Adebimpe contributed to his album by Subtle , a band in which Drucker was also active. In 2009 Drucker announced the name of the project as "The Nevermen". This was followed by a record deal with Lex Records , where Subtle was also under contract. In the following time the members were busy with other projects, especially Patton with the reunion of Faith No More, so that the release of songs was delayed. In 2015, the singles Tough Towns and Mr. Mistake finally appeared . The latter received a remix from Boards of Canada . After the band had shortened their name to "Nevermen", the self-titled album was released in early 2016 in the UK on Lex Records and in the USA on Ipecac Recordings . The album was initially recorded within a week in a warehouse in Williamsburg by Adebimpe and Drucker; the result was then sent to Patton and completed by him.

style

According to Allmusic's Paul Simpson , the band mix experimental hip-hop , indie rock and electronic music . The vocal harmonies sound meandering, while the lyrics are cryptic and abstract. Frank Thiessies from Metal Hammer stated in his review of the album that the music is not for people "for whom Faith No More's irrepressible will to break styles is too much". There is "musical avant-gardism and anarchist Dadaism " and mixes rock , pop , soul , old-school hip-hop and film music . In terms of sound, the music is comparable to that of Fischmob .
