New Era Orchestra

The New Era Orchestra is a chamber orchestra that was founded in 2007 in Kiev , Ukraine . Co-founder, artistic director and conductor is Tetjana Kalinitschenko ( Тетяна Калініченко ). The orchestra's repertoire consists of works of classical and contemporary music.

The ensemble was put together in 2007 by Tetjana Kalinitschenko in collaboration with Andrij Risol ( Андрій Володимирович Різоль ). The international activity of the orchestra was initiated by the businessman Yevheny Utkin ( Євгеній Володимирович Уткін ).

The New Era Orchestra played at numerous festivals in Ukraine and abroad, such as the multidisciplinary modern art festival Gogolfest , the international film festival Molodist , the international jazz festival Jazz in Kiev , the festival of contemporary music in Arsenal , GAIDA international contemporary music festival in Lithuania . The first international tour of the Kiev – Paris – Moscow ensemble in 2010 was dedicated to Andrei Tarkovsky .

In Ukraine, the New Era Orchestra was the first ensemble to perform music by composers such as John Adams , Philip Glass , Michael Nyman , John Tavener , Iannis Xenakis , Avner Dorman , Takashi Yoshimatsu , Marjan Mozetich , Georgs Pelecis and Arturs Muscat . The orchestra also has some works by contemporary composers such as Joaquín Rodrigo , Yasushi Akutagawa , Vladimir Martynov , Pavel Karmanov , Leonid Desyatnikov , Krzysztof Penderecki premiered

The orchestra has worked with numerous internationally known soloists, including Joshua Bell , Sarah Chang , Avi Avital , Danjulo Ishizaka , Christoph Sietzen and Roman Mints . The orchestra also frequently performs with leading Ukrainian soloists such as violinist Kyrylo Sharapov, Dmytro Marchenko ( vibraphone ), pianist Roman Repka and cellist Artem Poludenny.

Conductor and Artistic Director

Tetjana Kalinitschenko has been artistic director and chief conductor of the New Era Orchestra since 2007. In 2003 she completed her conducting studies with V. Gnedasch at the National Music Academy of Ukraine in Petro Tchaikovsky . She worked as a guest conductor in the opera studio “Young Opera” at the Kiev Conservatory and at the Dnipropetrovsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (2004–2006). From 2004 to 2010 she was the conductor of the National Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine.

The "Musical Bridges" project

The project Musical Bridges (German: Musical Bridges ) is a long-term initiative to revive the cultural exchange between Ukrainian and foreign musicians in the field of modern and classical music in order to integrate Ukraine culturally on an international level and to popularize high-level international musical art in Ukraine do. In 2019, the project took place as part of the bilateral year of culture Austria-Ukraine 2019, funded by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the Austrian Embassy Kiev and the Austrian Cultural Forum . The project will be organized by the Believe in Yourself charity fund .
