Danjulo Ishizaka

Danjulo Ishizaka (born May 14, 1979 in Bonn ) is a German cellist and professor at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden .

Life

Ishizaka was born in Bonn as the son of the German piano teacher Ruth Nathrath and Junkichi Ishizaka. His sister is the pianist Kimiko Douglass-Ishizaka . He received his first cello lessons at the age of 4. At the age of fourteen Danjulo made his debut together with his sister Kimiko (piano / viola) and his brother Kiyondo Ishizaka (piano / violin) in the Trio Ishizaka as a winner of the national youth competition " Jugend musiziert " as part of the capital matinee of the German Press Club in the rotunda of the federal guest house on the Petersberg near Bonn. Danjulo Ishizaka studied from 1998 until his death in 2004 with Boris Pergamenschikow in Berlin and then with Tabea Zimmermann .

Act

Danjulo Ishizaka has been a guest with many orchestras, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , all 5 BBC orchestras, the Orchester de l'Opéra National de Paris , the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra , the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under conductors such as Gerd Albrecht , Andrew Davis , Christoph Eschenbach , Lawrence Foster , Michail and Vladimir Jurowski , Sir Roger Norrington , Mstislaw Rostropovich and Leonard Slatkin . He has given concerts with artists such as Gidon Kremer , Lisa Batiashvili , Viviane Hagner , Tabea Zimmermann , Julia Fischer , Baiba Skride , Antje Weithaas , Veronika Eberle , Martin Helmchen and Ray Chen . The debut for his international career took place with the Wiener Symphoniker at the Wiener Musikverein under the direction of Krzysztof Penderecki . The cellist Mstislaw Rostropovich described Danjulo Ishizaka's playing with the words: “phenomenal in his technical ability, perfect in his musical creative power”.

Danjulo Ishizaka played the Stradivarius cello “Lord Aylesford” from 2004 to 2013 , previously played by János Starker , and since January 2014 the Stradivari cello “Ex- Feuermann ” (also known as “De Munck”) (1730) Nippon Music Foundation, formerly played by Emanuel Feuermann , as well as the Schnabl cello “Ex-Pergamenschikow”, made available by the Kronberg Academy.

From May 20 to May 27, 2018 he will play at the 11th International Chamber Music Festival at Cappenberg Castle .

Awards

In 2006 his debut CD, published by Sony, was awarded the “ Echo Klassik ” by the German Phono Academy . In 2007–2008, Danjulo Ishizaka was selected for BBC Radio 3's “New Generation Artists scheme” . In 2012 he was awarded the “Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award”, one of the most important music prizes in Japan, given by the Sony Music Foundation in Tokyo .
