New Zealand Football Championship 2005/06

In 2005/06, the New Zealand Football Championship hosted by the New Zealand Football Association entered its second season. With a 4: 3 win on penalties (3: 3, 0: 0 afterwards) against Canterbury United, Auckland City was able to defend the championship title.

In the regular season, each team played against each other three times. Then the playoffs followed. A relegated team was not played off.

Playoffs

First, the second played against the third (game A). The winner played against the table top Auckland City (game D). Meanwhile, in game C, the winner of game fourth against fifth (B) dueled with the loser from game A. The winner of game C now competed against the loser of game D in the semi-finals. In the final, the winners of game D and semi-finals faced each other.
