Newport Coast is a district of Newport Beach in the US state of California . It was incorporated in 2002 and previously had the status of a settlement area defined for statistical purposes ( census-designated place ).

Newport Coast has been a planned city since 1990 . The district is a gated community ; the residential areas can only be reached through guarded gate entrances. Based on the average household income of 475,757 dollars Newport Coast is the wealthiest community in Orange County .

The district is conveniently located between two expressways. The California State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) runs south along the coast and in the north winds California State Route 73 through the hilly landscape.

The population was 78.06% White , 0.26% African American , 0.15% Native American , 18.08% Asian, and 4.19% Latinos . The largest groups by ethnic origin in the urban area were: Germans 320 (12.0%), English 265 (10.0%) and Russians 218 (8.2%).

Children under the age of 18 lived in 35.7% of households. A total of 24.6% of the population were under 18 years of age, 3.8% between 18 and 24, 31.6% between 25 and 44, 33.0% between 45 and 64 and 7.0% at least 65 years of age and older. The average age was exactly 40 years.
