Newport Coast is a district of Newport Beach in the US state of California . It was incorporated in 2002 and previously had the status of a settlement area defined for statistical purposes ( census-designated place ).

Newport Coast has been a planned city since 1990 . The district is a gated community ; the residential areas can only be reached through guarded gate entrances. Based on the average household income of 475,757 dollars Newport Coast is the wealthiest community in Orange County .

Crystal Cove State Park is on the seashore below the town . The reserve extends from the Pacific Ocean to the hilly hinterland. Wide sandy beaches are ideal for hiking, swimming and sunbathing.

The Newport Coast stretches on the Pacific Ocean side of the San Joaquin Hills. The houses nestle against the hilltops and some have a sea view. The place borders in the west on Corona del Mar , in the north on San Joaquin Hills and in the south on Laguna Beach .

The district is conveniently located between two expressways. The California State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) runs south along the coast and in the north winds California State Route 73 through the hilly landscape.

According to the United States Census Bureau , Newport Coast covers an area of 18.7 square kilometers. Of this, 18.3 square kilometers are land and 0.4 square kilometers are water.

Demographics

When it was incorporated in 2002, around 7,000 people lived in the district.

At the 2000 census , Newport Coast had 2,671 residents, across 1,001 households and 776 families. The population density was 146.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The population was 78.06% White , 0.26% African American , 0.15% Native American , 18.08% Asian, and 4.19% Latinos . The largest groups by ethnic origin in the urban area were: Germans 320 (12.0%), English 265 (10.0%) and Russians 218 (8.2%).

Children under the age of 18 lived in 35.7% of households. A total of 24.6% of the population were under 18 years of age, 3.8% between 18 and 24, 31.6% between 25 and 44, 33.0% between 45 and 64 and 7.0% at least 65 years of age and older. The average age was exactly 40 years.

The median income per household amounted to 2000 to 164,659 US dollars , the median income of a family on 173,043 US dollars. The district's per capita income was $ 98,770. A total of 2.8% of the population lived below the poverty line.

By 2005, the median household income rose to $ 475,757.
