News Movie is an American direct-to-video - comedy from 2008. The film was supplied by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.

action

The TV news magazine "Onion News" with front man Norm Archer ( Len Cariou ) reports on world events. Find out how terrorists are really trained, why computer billionaire Gil Bates should be killed, and how the government is using hash and pornography to lure new recruits. Embarrassing celebrities and other individual fates are presented while the war rages behind the scenes. Norm Archer is annoyed by the commercials that appear between the messages. Because the premiere of Steven Seagal's latest work "Cockpuncher" seems to be more important than a conflict in the Middle East.

background

The makers of the film are also the makers of the satirical magazine The Onion .

The film was shot back in 2003. After the shooting, those involved saw that the previously shot skits were not working. The shooting dragged on for years due to a lack of funding, the film became an "on-and-off-again" project. In a 2007 interview, then The Onion President Sean Mills said that the film was a "dead project" and that film rights holders would have to consider whether a direct-to-video release would be financially viable.

criticism

The lexicon of international films ruled that the film was an “attempt at a shrill media satire” , which, however, “found no stylistic means and sought salvation in jokes and fouls.” It was therefore “nothing more than a juxtaposition of sketches . "

Film music

The score was written by Asche & Spencer and the songs were sung by Lisa Marie Furth. The four titles are Down On My Knees, Take Me From Behind, Shoot Your Love All Over Me and Lollipop Love.
