The NextEra Energy Resources 250 is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series car race held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach , Florida . It first took place in 2000 and has always been the first race of the season ever since.

The first race of the Craftsman Truck Series held in Daytona in 2000 was overshadowed by a serious accident. Kurt Busch and Rob Morgan's trucks touched about halfway through the race . Morgan lost control of his truck and pushed Geoff Bodine's truck into the outer wall. A great fire developed in which no one was killed. Geoff Bodine, injured in the accident, was able to race again in May.

In contrast to the Sprint Cup and the Nationwide Series, the Craftsman Truck Series in Daytona does not run with air flow limiters , which means that higher speeds can be achieved.

In 2003 and 2007 there were very close finish lines with three trucks next to each other. In 2001, 2003 and 2006 there was a “green-white-checkered finish” .
