The Next Kraftwerke GmbH is an energy company and operates a virtual power plant. The company networks decentralized systems for renewable energy, electricity storage, Power-to-X systems as well as industrial and commercial electricity consumers. In total, Next Kraftwerke GmbH aggregates more than 8,179 MW. The company is active in eight European countries and on European power exchanges such as EPEX Spot or the auctions for control power tenders. The amount of electricity traded was 15.1 TWh in 2019. The head office is in Cologne.

history

Next Kraftwerke GmbH was founded in 2009 by the two managing directors Sämisch & Schwill. In 2012, Next Kraftwerke generated control energy from the virtual power plant for the first time. In 2013 Next Kraftwerke achieved financial break-even. In 2014, subsidiaries were founded in Austria and Belgium. In 2015, the subsidiary was founded in France. This was followed by the companies in Poland and the Netherlands (2016) as well as Italy and Switzerland (2017).

Products

Next Kraftwerke offers various electricity trading products and services. In addition to the direct marketing of renewable energy systems according to the EEG, another important product is the provision of control power from decentralized systems and electricity consumers and electricity storage facilities. In addition, Next Kraftwerke offers flexible electricity tariffs for commercial and industrial electricity consumers as well as energy services such as portfolio management and market access for municipal utilities, energy suppliers and balancing group managers. Other products are Nemocs, a software-as-a-service solution for setting up your own virtual power plants, and the online market access portal Nextra.
