The Ngojumba Kang (also Ngojumba Kang I ; other spelling: Ngozumpa Kang ) is a glaciated peak in the Himalayas on the border between Nepal and the autonomous region of Tibet .

The 7916  m (according to other sources 7946  m ) high Ngojumba Kang lies on the mountain ridge that connects the Cho Oyu ( 8188  m ), 2.66 km further west, with the Gyachung Kang ( 7952  m , 6 km further east). A 7746  m high saddle separates the Ngojumba Kang from the Cho Oyu. The Ngojumba Glacier extends on the south side of Ngojumba Kang . A lower ridge branches off to the north below the Ngojumba Kang and leads to the Siguang Ri ( 7308  m ).

In 2013, the Nepalese government proposed that a summit be named in honor of the Everest conqueror Tenzing Norgay Tenzing Peak . The altitude and location indicate that it could be the Ngojumba Kang.

Ascent history

The first ascent of Ngojumba Kang was made in 1965 by a Korean expedition from the south over the Ngojumba Glacier. Naomi Uemura and Pemba Tenzing reached the summit on April 24, 1965.

Another ascent followed on May 22, 1985 by the two Americans Mark Richey and Rick Wilcox.
