Nicaise Auguste Desvaux

Nicaise Auguste Desvaux (born August 28, 1784 in Poitiers , † July 12, 1856 in Bellevue near Angers ) was a French botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Desv. "

Live and act

Desvaux was professor of botany in Bellevue near Angers and from 1817 director of the botanical garden in Angers. He wrote about the flora of Angers and Anjou.

Honor taxon

After him the plant genus Desvauxia R.Br. from the family of the Centrolepidaceae and the species Luzula desvauxii Kunth from the family of the rush plants (Juncaceae) named.
