Nicholas "Nick" Pileggi (born February 22, 1933 in New York City , New York ) is an American journalist and writer .

Live and act

His most important work is Wise Guy , published in 1986 . It was filmed in 1990 by Martin Scorsese under the title Good Fellas - Three decades in the Mafia . Working together on the script earned them an Oscar nomination in the Best Screenplay Adaptation category as well as other film awards and nominations for film awards. Scorsese also filmed Pileggi's book Casino in 1995 , which tells the story of Frank Rosenthal's career in Las Vegas.

With Michael Hayes - For Law and Justice and (1997/1998) and Vegas Pileggi also created two television series.

Pileggi was an executive producer on the 2007 film American Gangster .

Nicholas Pileggi was married to screenwriter Nora Ephron , who died in 2012, since 1987 .
