from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nickel (Nicolaus) Schonyrst (also Schonerst, Schonhirsch) was a Dresden councilor and mayor living in the 15th century .

Schonyrst came from a family originally from the village of Schönerstädt near Leisnig , whose name first appeared in documents in 1405. He himself is mentioned for the first time in the Dresden city book in 1436 in connection with an agreement between councilor Franz Bebrach (Bibrach) and the council.

From 1443 Nickel Schonyrst was a member of the council and from 1450 he held the office of treasurer . In 1460 he is named as the lord of the lords and was thus responsible for collecting the city's hereditary and capital interest as well as managing the grain stocks. The following year he was elected mayor of the city. At the same time, he is mentioned for the last time as a council member. A document dated April 14, 1465 names him as the owner of a house on Große Judengasse (later Schössergasse ).
