Nicola Celio (born June 19, 1972 in Faido ) is a former Swiss ice hockey player . He played for HC Ambrì-Piotta throughout his professional career .

Career

Nicola Celio was born in Faido in 1972 as the son of the Ambrì player Guido Celio , his cousin is Manuele Celio . He did an apprenticeship as a car electrician. In the National League A season 1989/90 he was used for the first time in the first team of HC Ambrì-Piotta . He was used first as a striker, later as a defender and served as team captain . Until 2009 Celio played 926 NLA games for Ambrì-Piotta and scored 250 scorer points with 82 goals. After retiring from Ambrì, he went to the 2nd division for HC Chiasso . The number 8 he wore has not been awarded by the HCAP since then.

Celio played 15 games for the Swiss national ice hockey team , including at the Ice Hockey B World Championship in Eindhoven in 1994 .
