Nicola Payne

Nicola "Nikki" Anne Payne , after marriage Mills , (born July 26, 1966 in Hong Kong ) is a former New Zealand rower .

The 1.75 m tall Nicola Payne took fourth place in the single at the Junior World Championships in 1984 .

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul , Nicola Payne and Lynley Hannen competed in twos without a helmsman . In the first run they took second place behind Kerstin Spittler and Katrin Schröder from the GDR. With a victory in the repechage race, the two New Zealanders qualified for the final. There the Romanians Rodica Arba and Olga Homeghi won ahead of the Bulgarians Radka Stojanowa and Lalka Berberowa . Behind them, Payne and Hannen won the bronze medal in front of the boat from the GDR.

The following year, Payne and Hannen finished sixth at the 1989 World Championships . In 1990 Payne reached sixth place in the foursome without a helmsman at the 1990 World Championships . With the eighth , she rowed to fourth place.
