Nicola Ruffoni (born December 14, 1990 in Brescia ) is an Italian racing cyclist .

Career

Ruffoni won two stages of the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia and the road race of the Mediterranean Games in 2013 . At the end of the season he drove with the Professional Continental Team Bardiani as a stagiaire , with which he received a regular contract from the 2014 season.

For his new team, Ruffoni won a stage of the Tour du Poitou-Charentes in 2014, two stages of the Tour of Austria and the one-day GP Beghelli race in 2016 and two stages and the points classification of the Tour of Croatia in 2017 .

Before the subsequent Giro d'Italia 2017 , he and his team colleague Stefano Pirazzi were tested for a derivative of prohibited growth hormones and the UCI suspended him on suspicion of doping one day before the start of the race . A four-year ban until May 3, 2018, issued by the UCI Anti-Doping Tribunal on December 14, 2017, was confirmed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in November 2018 .
