Nicolaj Bruel

Nicolaj Brüel (born August 19, 1965 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish cameraman .

Life

Nicolaj Brüel is the grandson of the painter Michael Brüel and the son of the cameraman Dirk Brüel . Like his father, he also studied at the renowned Den Danske Filmskole , where he graduated in 1991. Although he made his debut with a full-length film in 1994 with the family comedy Frække Frida og de frygtløse spioner directed by Søren Ole Christensen , Brüel was unable to establish himself as a cameraman in film, and instead found regular work on commercials and music videos.

Since the two short films Before Design: Classic and Delightful by the Italian director Matteo Garrone , Brüel has also worked on his feature films Dogman and Pinocchio as a cameraman. For both works he was nominated for best camera with a David di Donatello . Whereby he received the award for Dogman .
