Nicolas-Étienne Framery
Nicolas-Étienne Framery (born March 25, 1745 in Rouen , † November 26, 1810 in Paris ) was a French librettist and composer .
Life
Framery published his first comedy La Nouvelle Eve in 1763. This was performed the following year as Nanette et Lucas , set to music by Chevalier d'Herbain , at the Comédie-Italienne . After an adaptation of the Vaudeville Nicaise by Jean-Joseph Vadé (1719–1757) in 1767 , his own Opèra comique La Sorcière par hasard was published . In the 1770s, Framery wrote a number of French parodies of Italian operas and the like. a. by Antonio Sacchini ( La Colonie , 1775 and L'Olympiade , 1777) and Giovanni Paisiello . He also emerged as a translator of Italian operas.
From 1764 to 1768 Framery was co-editor of the Journal de musique . From 1784 he worked on the music part of the Encyclopédie méthodique . In 1786 he published Le Musicien Pratique , the translation of a work by Francesco Azopardi . Between 1791 and 1799 he was head of the Mercure français politique, historique et littéraire .
