Nicolaas Nelleman

Nicolaas Nelleman , also Nicolaas Nellemans , (* 1722 ; † May 5, 1805 ) was the second Old Catholic Bishop of Deventer from 1778 until his death .

Life

Nelleman had been a pastor in Delft before his episcopal ordination . After the death of his predecessor in the Episcopate, Bartholomeus Johannes Bijeveld , he was appointed bishop of Deventer, received on 28 October 1778 Delft by the Archbishop of Utrecht Gualtherus Michael van Nieuwenhuizen the episcopal ordination .

In 1794 he and his two brothers in the episcopate, Walter van Nieuwenhuyzen of Utrecht and Adrianus Broekman of Haarlem , wrote a letter to Scipione de 'Ricci about the papal bull Auctorem fidei .

Like his predecessor, Nelleman had no power of jurisdiction and did not reside in the city of Deventer , but remained in his pastoral position in Delft until 1803. He died on May 5, 1805.
