Nicolas Pascarel (* 1966 in Paris ) is a French photographer . He has worked as a photographer for more than 25 years and has lived in Naples , Italy since 1999 .

Life

Nicolas Pascarel worked as a freelance photo reporter for Parisian newspapers such as Liberation , Le Monde , L'Humanité and Courrier International from 1990 to 1998 . He worked in Cairo , Damascus and Rome , among others , and was out and about for his report on the last mines in northern France.

From 1998 Pascarel worked as an artistic photographer.

Since the early 1990s, he has spent most of his time in Naples , Cambodia , Vietnam and Havana , where he lived from 1996 to 1997. In 1998 he changed his photographic style; he began a close collaboration with the French Foreign Ministry and taught photography in various art schools around the world such as the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School in Phnom Penh in Cambodia, in Chiang Rai ( northern Thailand ), Bangkok , in Ho Chi Minh City ( Vietnam) and at the Havana Art School.

His work has been exhibited in more than 40 galleries in Europe, Asia, Cuba and the USA. In 2004 he created the documentation about Cambodia " Durant la pluie " ( German : During the rain ).

In 2006 he founded the Fotoasia initiative , which aims to promote the exchange between European, Asian and Cuban photographers. He conducted photography workshops on this project for over ten years and finished it in 2016.
