Nicolas Righetti

Nicolas Righetti (born April 16, 1967 in Geneva ) is a Swiss photographer .

Life

Nicolas Righetti studied at the Institut d'Études Sociales and the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. For years he traveled extensively, especially in Asia, where he made photo reports about Laos , Bali , China and Mongolia . Photos by Nicolas Righetti have been published in Tribune de Genève , Construire and L'Hebdo , among others . He is particularly known for his photo reports from North Korea , which he visited four times.

In 2007, Nicolas Righetti was the first Swiss to receive a World Press Photo Award . On the subject of portrait reports, he won first prize for his report on President Saparmyrat Niyazov of Turkmenistan .
