Nicolaus Boie the Younger
Nicolaus Boie the Younger (* around 1501 in Meldorf ; † October 1542 there ) was a Protestant theologian, reformer and hymn poet.
Life
Born in Dithmarschen, he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg in 1518 and was enthusiastic about Martin Luther's ideas during this time . Back in his birthplace, he campaigned for the Reformation and made many friends, including his cousin of the same name . In 1523 he was appointed church lord of the community and in 1524 tried to bind Heinrich von Zütphen from Bremen as a Protestant preacher.
Together with Hinrich Dimmerbrock he published three popular writings in which he accused the abuses of the old church and called on the authorities to put an end to them. In 1532 the Reformation was implemented. Called as superintendent , he campaigned for the continuation of the Lutheran faith, authored scriptures and a number of hymns. In 1540 he initiated the foundation of the Meldorfer School of Academics .
