Nikolaus Zangius

Nikolaus Zangius (* around 1570 in Woltersdorf ; † around 1619 in Berlin ) was a German composer .

Zangius was born in Woltersdorf as the son of a pastor. In 1597 he worked as Kapellmeister at the episcopal-princely court in Iburg . In 1599 he moved to Danzig as a substitute for the ailing Kapellmeister Johann Wannings . In 1602 he was given the office. He also became a brother of the Christopher Bank in Artus Court . In the same year he fled from the plague to Prague , where he worked as the emperor's servant . In 1607 he returned to Danzig. From 1612 to 1619 he held the office of court conductor in Berlin.
