Nicolaus von Suhm
Nicolaus von Suhm (* February 8, 1697 , † April 13, 1760 ) was a Saxon diplomat .
family
Nicolaus von Suhm came from the Danish aristocratic family Suhm and was a son of the royal Polish and Electoral Saxon secret war and chamber councilor Burchard von Suhm (1666-1720) and Gesilla von Brüggemann (1672-1711). He was not married.
Life
Suhm initially accompanied his father to the peace congress in Utrecht and his embassy in Paris , then went to Poland , Vienna and Berlin with Jacob Heinrich von Flemming , was a legation counselor in the Secret Cabinet in 1722, followed by an embassy to Brussels in 1744, 1745–1750 he was envoy to Sweden and finally in 1747 became a Privy Council of War. In 1751 Suhm was granted a pension.
Suhm was the master of Gersdorf near Dresden .
Trivia
Nicolaus von Suhm informed Frederick the Great about the death of his brother Ulrich Friedrich von Suhm , whereupon the latter responded with a letter from Rheinsberg on November 26, 1740 .
