Career
society
From 2010 to 2011 Marshall played for the Washington Freedom or its successor franchise magicJack in the WPS . During the 2011 season, she moved to league competitor Boston Breakers and from there after the WPS was dissolved in early 2012 to WPSL elite participant Western New York Flash . In January 2013 Marshall was signed as a so-called free agent by Portland Thorns FC , she made her league debut there on April 13, 2013 against FC Kansas City . She was on the starting grid in Portland in all 22 league games, as well as in the two play-off matches of the season, and celebrated winning the NWSL Championship Trophy with her team at the end of the season . Nevertheless, Marshall was surprisingly released from the Thorns franchise on September 6, 2013 and subsequently signed by league rival Washington Spirit . Marshall got back to Portland via Seattle Reign FC through several barter deals . There she signed a new contract with a reduced salary before the start of the 2014 season. After suffering a cruciate ligament rupture on the last day of the 2014 season, Marshall announced her retirement in early 2015.
International
Marshall played from 2007 to 2009 for the youth teams of the US Football Association in the U-20 and U-23 age groups. She won the 2008 World Cup with the U-20 . In May 2014 she was appointed to a training camp for the US national team for the first time by national coach Jill Ellis , but was not used in any international match.
