Nicole Rotter

Nicole Rotter (born July 31, 1970 in Munich ) is a German ENT doctor, health economist and university professor.

Life

Nicole Rotter studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich from 1990 to 1996 and received her doctorate there in 1997 with “Investigations into the in vivo behavior of in vitro produced cartilage transplant material”. After research stays at the Center for Tissue Engineering at the University of Massachusetts (USA), she initially worked as an ENT specialist at the University ENT Clinic in Munich. In 2003 she moved to the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein , Lübeck campus . There she completed an extra-occupational degree in health economics at the European Business School in 2004, completed her habilitation at the University of Lübeck on the subject of " Tissue engineering of cartilage tissue and respiratory epithelium for reconstructive head and neck surgery" and received the Venia Legendi . In 2005 she was appointed senior physician, and in 2008 managing senior physician at the ENT clinic of the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center. She then moved to the ENT clinic of Ulm University as a senior physician and deputy clinic director . In 2016 she was offered the professorship for ear, nose and throat medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria). In 2017 she became director of the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic at the University Hospital Mannheim and was appointed to the Chair of Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine at the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg . In 2019, Nicole Rotter was accepted as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in the Ophthalmology, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and Stomatology Section .

Focus of work

Nicole Rotter is a licensed doctor for ear, nose and throat medicine (2002) and has additional qualifications in ' allergology ' (2006) and ' plastic operations ' (2010). Her clinical focuses include the surgical treatment of head and neck tumors , middle ear surgery with cochlear implants and partially implantable hearing aids , skull base surgery and plastic-reconstructive surgery .

Research priorities

Nicole Rotter's scientific interest lies primarily in the regeneration of cartilage and salivary gland tissue, which is important in the treatment of ENT tumors, in robot-assisted (onco) surgery and angioedema . Here she was or is involved in the EU research network EXPERTTISSUES, the EU project EAREG, the center for musculoskeletal research at the University of Ulm and the multicenter study on angioedema.
