Nicotiana glutinosa is a plant from the genus tobacco ( Nicotiana ) from the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). The species is common in South America .

description

Nicotiana glutinosa is a coarse, usually one to two meter high, annual plant with rather stable stems , stiff, hardly protruding branches and sticky hairs that even appear on the crowns . The leaf stalks are shorter than the leaf blades . The latter are heart-shaped, rounded, more or less pointed to the front, the basal lobes are often rolled up. The largest leaves are 10 to 20 cm long.

The grape-shaped inflorescences are elongated and strong. The flower stalks are 5 to 12 mm long, slightly elongated on the fruit. The calyx is bell-shaped, 5 to 7 mm long and has clearly irregular tips. These are 1 to 3 times longer than the calyx tube, triangular and narrowly tapered, often bent back. The corolla tube is 3 to 5 mm long, 5 mm wide, the throat is tinted light greenish-yellow or red. The cylinder is 5 to 10 mm long, the cup is indistinct and 1.5 to 2 cm long and almost as wide. Below the coronet it is bell-shaped. The coronet is 8 to 12 mm wide, pink, red or lemon yellow on the inside. The corolla lobes are usually broadly ovate and have short, pointed, notched and recurved tips. The stamens all barely protrude beyond the crown, a single one can also be shorter. The stamens are hairy sparsely woolly in the lower half.

The fruits are broadly egg-shaped, 1 to 1.5 cm long capsules . The seeds are 0.6 mm long, dark brown, structured like a network, the ribs are unevenly wavy.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.

Occurrence
