Nicotiana raimondii is a plant type from the genus tobacco ( Nicotiana ) from the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). The species is common in South America .

description

Nicotiana raimondii is a semi-woody plant that grows 1 to 2 m tall. The thin bark is reddish-corky. The plant branches with a few to many, upright, whitish-green, slender, dull, velvety hairy branches directly from the root crown. The leaf blades are egg-shaped and slightly heart-shaped, 10 to 15 cm long.

The inflorescences are narrow, dense, row-shaped panicles . The flower stalks are 6 mm long and extend to 7 mm. The calyx is broadly cylindrical, 6 to 7 mm long. The membranes between the calyx tips are variable, usually wider towards the top. The calyx tips are almost equally shaped, slightly bent back and fine. The crown is 2.5 to 3 cm long and hairless. The corolla tube is 2 mm long and just as wide, the corolla throat 10 to 14 times as long, three times as wide and colored pale greenish-yellow. The coronet is a little lighter and 2 to 3 mm wide and covered with bent-back, slightly pointed corolla lobes. The stamens hardly protrude beyond the crown. The stamens are densely hairy on the lower 8 mm.

The fruits are dark brown, elliptical, 8 to 10 mm long capsules . The seeds are angular-egg-shaped or somewhat elongated, 0.6 mm long, brown and ribbed in a network-like structure.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 24.
