The Niedere Mühle or Niedermühle is one of two preserved watermills in Oderwitz . It can be viewed by interested parties today.
history
According to an inscription on a support beam, the mill was probably built in 1652. In 1770 it is mentioned in the Korschelt chronicle under the name of Kleine Mühle . Heinrich Emil Neumann bought the mill in 1903 and bequeathed it over three generations to its current owner.
In 1927/28 the drive of the mill was switched to a water turbine due to the decreasing flow strength of the Landwasser . However, the hydraulic weir was damaged by heavy ice drift the following winter , and the mill drive was then switched to an electric motor .
