The Lower Saxony Study Institute for Local Administration eV (NSI) is a registered association based in Hanover . The institute has the task of imparting scientific and theoretical principles for their professional activities to the service staff of the municipal administrations in Lower Saxony , to take exams and to maintain a library. In addition, the study institute offers advanced training in the form of seminars, congresses, meetings and workshops. It also supports the member administrations in recruiting and selecting young talent. The study institute promotes advanced training for subject teachers, training managers and training officers.

history

As early as October 1, 1926, the "Civil Service College of the Hanover City Association" was founded. In 1935 the facility was transferred to the Lower Saxony Municipal Administration School. V. Hanover renamed. After a short interlude as Nieders. From 1979 to 2009 the institute was named "Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration Hanover eV" for the municipal administration and savings bank school.

Effective January 1, 2009, the "Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration Hanover eV" merged with the two other municipal Lower Saxony study institutes in Braunschweig and Oldenburg (also run as associations) to form the "Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration eV" (NSI) the so-called "education centers" of the NSI have been in Braunschweig, Hanover and Oldenburg since the merger.

The former study institute in Braunschweig has been training the next generation of local administrations in the Braunschweig region since 1937, at that time still under the name Braunschweig Municipal Administration School.

The Oldenburg Administrative School was founded in 1939 under the name of the Municipal Administration and Savings Bank School Oldenburg-Bremen. After the war it was named Oldenburgische Verwaltungsschule and in 1978 it was incorporated into the Lower Saxony Study Institute for Municipal Administration Oldenburg e. V. renamed.

Sponsorship of the Municipal University for Administration in Lower Saxony (HSVN)

The NSI is the sponsor of the Municipal University for Administration in Lower Saxony (HSVN). The purpose of the university is the training of civil servants for career group 2 of the general services specialization or the corresponding training of employees. The association also carries out research and teaching projects (e.g. practical projects and basic studies) with the involvement of students and employees.

The NSI provides the young people of the local government with the basics for their later activities and carries out the statutory or collective bargaining examinations.

Local coverage

"Villa", Wielandstr. 5, corner of Glockseestrasse in Hanover

At Wielandstrasse 5 on the corner of Glockseestrasse there is a building that is used by the institute under the name “Villa”. After the building was converted, an architect found in 2018 that there was only a building permit for living space , but that it was not used as an office or lecture hall building . In 2015, the municipal building authority in Braunschweig prohibited the NSI from using a large part of a building on Braunschweiger Wendenstrasse .
