Niek Neuwahl (born April 24, 1944 in Zoeterwoude ; actually Nicolaas Frederik Franziskus Xaverius Neuwahl ) is a Dutch game designer living in Florence . Around 50 new election games were published by various publishers. In 1997, the game he created, Aztec, received the special “Beautiful Game” award from the Game of the Year jury .

Life

New election went to school in Leiden and studied architecture in Delft . He completed his studies in 1968 as the youngest of his class and then worked in Munich and Ulm as a management consultant and in Karlsruhe as a designer. He then moved to Florence with his wife Vanna and two sons. In 1978 Neuwahl developed the first ideas for games and in 1982 his first game appeared at Milton Bradley in Great Britain. Neuwahl founded the game development company NFFX , named after the first letters of his first name. In March 1988 he received a patent for a playing card packaging. From 1993 to 1995 he was newly elected treasurer and from 1997 to 1999 first chairman of the game authors' guild (SAZ). In 1999 he organized the International Colloquium “Board Game Studies” in Florence. In 2004 he received the Inno-Spatz for his life's work during the 23rd Göttingen game designer meeting.
