Niels Holm (Bishop)

Niels Holm (born November 18, 1936 in Herning ) is an Evangelical Lutheran theologian and was Bishop of the Ribe Diocese of the Danish People's Church from 1991 to 2003 .

Life

He is a son of Poul Holst Holm. As part of his many years of service for the Church in Denmark, he worked in various places and initially became a pastor on Funen . With his wife, who worked as a nurse, he then went to Kerteminde as a pastor . In the 1970s the couple came to Copenhagen , where Holm took on a pastor's position in Grundtvigskirche and also at Sct. Jørgens High School in Frederiksberg. In 1978 he came to the parish Thorstrup-Horne in southwest Jutland, where he was given a parish office for the first time . He was dean of the deanery Varde Provsti before he was appointed bishop of the congregation Ribe 1,992th In 2001 he was charged with preferring certain parishes in making decisions. In 2002 he managed to restore his reputation. He retired the following year.

Honor

In 2002 he was appointed commander of the Dannebrog Order .
