Niels William (actually William Vaesen; born November 20, 1974 in Belgium ) is a Flemish singer, manager and owner of an artist agency in Ghent .

Life

Niels William already appeared as a teenager under the pseudonym Danny De Munck in numerous sound mix shows in which singers with cover versions compete against each other, and took on various singles at his own expense, which however remained unsuccessful. He studied at the Showbizzschool in Ostend , where he was discovered by his teacher Frank Dingenen . Together they recorded the duet "Dat goed gevoel" in 1991, with which they landed at number 1 on the Belgian charts. Niels William was named the best new artist at the 1992 Radio 2 Zomerhit music festival. The singles "Blijf bij mij" and "Drie minutes" followed, before Niels Williams' first album "Op zoek" came out in 1992. The collaboration with Marc Van Beveren in the following year also made Niels Williams sound more mature. The second album "Bij nader inzien" was released in 1994, the single "Zie ze doen" was named the best Dutch-language single on "Radio 2 Zomerhit". In 1996 he recorded the title “The Great Pretender” for the Belgian aid program Levenslijn together with Lisa del Bo , Bart Kaëll and Helmut Lotti . The third album "Postbus 46" was released that same year before Niels William fell silent.

He had already worked as a presenter at Radio Donna in 1994, and in 1999 he became the presenter for the program "Golfbreker" on the Belgian broadcaster Radio 2. In 2000, he gave up the radio program because he had now built up the Belgian band K3 , their manager he was. Two years later he left the management of the band and went to South Africa to start a new life there. He became the manager of the band X4 , but after family problems returned to Belgium in 2006, where he again worked as a manager. He opened an artist agency in Ghent, where he looks after bands and artists such as Milk Inc. , Afi Oubaibra , Casa Creola and Marjolein Lecluyze .
