from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There is never a thriller by Andreas Pflüger that was published by Suhrkamp Verlag in 2017 . It is the sequel to Final and is thus the second part of the trilogy about the blind elite police officer Jenny Aaron.

content

Jenny Aaron receives an inheritance of two billion dollars from Ludger Holm, of all people, who is responsible for her blindness, and a reference to the most dangerous man in the world: “The Broker” instigates terrorist attacks around the world, only to get rid of the spinning stock prices to benefit. In order to determine the identity of the "Broker" and to bring him down, Aaron decides to return to the "Division", the special unit to which she also belonged in Final. For the time being, she does without therapy that could possibly restore part of her eyesight. The inheritance from Holm leads Aaron to Morocco , where the "broker" has also left his mark. Soon Aaron finds out what he did to her in previous years and is ready to sacrifice anything to kill him.

Manufacturing

The book was set and designed by Andreas Pflüger himself in collaboration with Erik Spiekermann . The author attaches great importance to the external form of the book and text:

“But I am convinced that the narrative power of a text does not come from the language alone, what I call the 'inner form'. No, it also depends on the 'external shape': the design. Rhythm is the interaction of the outside and the inside. The work is only successful if both are agreed. […] By the way, I disagree with Ferdinand de Saussure , who is otherwise valued by me , who said: 'Written forms obscure our view of language. They are less of a garment than a disguise. ' Au contraire: only what is on paper is true. While writing, the author strips off any disguise. If he's not a coward. "

background

Andreas Pflüger tells from the perspective of a blind investigator who masters all the skills that the non-sighted can learn to perfection. Bernhard Sabel from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg supported him in his research .

The idea for this character came to him while reading the autobiography of Jacques Lusseyran , who went blind at the age of eight and nevertheless became head of a Resistance cell in Paris during World War II.

Reviews

"Almost provocatively literary for a thriller ... Pflüger builds a world of visual impressions in small details in order to make them disappear and with it the deceptive security that they believe to be."

- Nicolas Freund, Süddeutsche Zeitung

"Seldom did such a fine heart beat in a hardcore thriller."

- Elmar Krekeler, DIE WELT

“What makes Andreas Pflüger's novels a page turner is first and foremost the work on the details. ... In any case, there is no other crime writer in the German-speaking area who adjusts individual sentences, images and scenes so precisely ... until that shimmering authenticity effect sets in, which is the basis for convincing literary 'action'. "

- Kolja Mensing, Deutschlandfunk Kultur

" Suspense literature is never at the highest level, perfectly polished like the Koh-i-Noor."

- Alf Mayer, Friday

"It's been a long time since I read a detective novel in which there is a character that is so complex and has such a deep background story as Jenny Aaron ... Andreas Pflüger is the best German crime writer for me."

- Gert Scobel, 3 sat
