Barro is one of 28 parroquias in the municipality of Llanes in the autonomous region of Asturias in Spain .
geography
Barro is a Parroquia with 445 inhabitants (2011) and an area of 9.42 km². It is 15 m above sea level . The Llanu Santana is the highest point of the place with 211 m; La Peña Blanca (1177 m) is the highest point in the Parroquia. Llanes, the municipality capital, is 8 to 10 km to the east.

Fishing and agriculture have shaped the region since time immemorial; the inhabitants lived for centuries as self-sufficient . Due to the mountains and the nearby sea, the region has become a tourist destination, which significantly boosts the economy.
history
Barro or the Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores and the Capilla de las Animas are stops on the Camino de Santiago , the Camino de la Costa .
Worth seeing
- The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in the hamlet of Niembro was designed in 1788 and completed nine years later; together with a small cemetery, it is located on the cliffs of the sea.
- The small Capilla de Animas is just outside the village.
