Nierembergia aristata is a plant type from the type of the white mug ( Nierembergia ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nierembergia arista is a prostrate plant that reaches heights of growth of 20 cm. The roots form bulbous nodes with a diameter of 4 to 6 mm and adventitious roots with a diameter of about 2 mm. The leaves are 10 to 42 mm long and 1 to 5 mm wide, hairless and linear, elliptical to ovoid.

The flowers are on 3 to 4 mm long pedicels , the calyx is 13 to 16 mm long and has triangular, pointed calyx tips 5 to 9 mm long. The crown is evenly colored purple, the coronary hem measures 18 to 21.5 mm in diameter, the corolla tube is 15 to 29 mm long. The inner lobes are larger than the rest. The stamens tend apart. The pollen grains appear in tetrads. The stylus is strongly curved, the scar is transverse.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16 or 48.

Occurrence

The species grows on clayey, moderately moist soils. It occurs in Brazil , Paraguay , Uruguay and Argentina .
